“Over the past 12 years I have witnessed Pittsburgh’s revitalization become a national story of resilience, reinvention and rebirth,” says Lucas Piatt, president and COO of Millcraft Investments. “I am so honored and proud to be a part of that story. The truly exciting thing is that we are just getting started.”

A champion of Pittsburgh, Lucas lives in Sewickley with his wife Renee and their children River and Marlea. Check out his busy week and his plans for a sustainable dairy farm, among many other key projects.

Monday, October 24

I’m starting my day on Monday with breakfast at Roost with four visiting college friends who came to town for the Steelers game. After breakfast I’ll take them to the airport and head to meet with my father and chairman of Millcraft, Jack Piatt, along with our leadership team for our weekly executive meeting to discuss the direction of the week.

Following the meeting, I will visit a state-of-the-art dairy farm that we are developing in Washington, PA — a sustainable farm with top-notch facilities and a world-class dairy operation.

Tonight, Renee and I will take the kids to Mambo Italia in Sewickley for pizza and spaghetti.

Tuesday, October 25

Today starts with updates on our project at 350 Oliver, including a design meeting for the hotel and loft apartments opening in the location of the former Saks Fifth Avenue site. Then I am meeting to review designs and development progress for Esplanade, our new North Shore project located in the Chateau neighborhood.

I also have the annual Point Park University Board of Trustees meeting and reception before going to dinner with a new client at Roost.

Wednesday, October 26

The day begins with breakfast at Habitat with clients from New York City who are looking to expand their business to Pittsburgh. My line of work is highly social, and I am constantly meeting with people who are anticipating their move to our city.

After breakfast, I have a construction meeting with our contractor for our 350 Oliver project, and then a meeting with Bike PGH to integrate bike-friendly facilities into our projects. As a sustainable developer, I am always searching for ways to lower our impact on the environment.

Thursday, October 27

I’ll head to Millcraft’s Washington office in Southpointe in the morning to meet with clients and tenants then lunch with clients at our newly redesigned Jacksons Bar + Restaurant.

Tonight, Renee and I are the event co-chairs for Wines Under Glass: Flavors of the Continents at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Typically Thursday evenings are date nights for Renee and me, and we are looking forward to enjoying international wines and cuisine at this fantastic event.

Friday, October 28

This morning I am meeting with investors from Los Angeles who are coming into town for updates on investment opportunities. Afterward, I am meeting with the owners of Brew: The Museum of Beer, to get updates on their plans. My focal point is working with them to find ways to help make their vision a reality (read more about the project in NEXTpittsburgh here).

Then lunch at Tower Two-Sixty’s newest restaurant tenant, Pirata, follows.

On Friday evening, I’m excited to spend time with my family for dinner and a movie. We’ll dine at Vallozzi’s, then find a kid-friendly flick to enjoy.

Saturday, October 29

Saturday morning, the family wakes up hungry and energized. In terms of weekend breakfast, IHOP is a crowd favorite with my kids. After, I’ll spend time with Renee admiring her jewelry designs of the week for Renee Piatt Collection.

Saturday night is a big night for us at Revel + Roost. The Revel Halloween Bash is going to be huge! We’re asking guests to come dressed in costumes for our on-site costume contest. We’ll have cocktail specials, late night bites, and we’re showing the original Night of the Living Dead movie on our huge screens!

Sunday, October 30

Relaxation and family time are key on Sunday. We’ll enjoy a Sunday Brunch at Revel to fuel up before heading to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. My kids love seeing the dinosaurs and it’s always a fun adventure together. Although the workweek can be extremely busy and I focus my energy on my company, family time is top priority whenever possible.
