Harris Grill, Downtown, Shadyside, Mt. Washington

For years, Harris Grill has served up delicious food with a sense of humor. All three locations boast a fun, inviting atmosphere, especially during Tuesday Bacon Night! Don’t dig swine? There are plenty of soups, salads, sandwiches, tacos and hearty entrees to choose from, not to mention a great cocktail and beer menu. And the atmosphere really is casual enough for kids.

This local landmark has been serving up upscale bar food (try the wings!) since 1934. It’s a place to unwind and watch the big game. Kids eat for free on Mondays and Tuesdays with the purchase of an adult meal.

Double Wide Grill, South Side, North Huntingdon, Mars

Double Wide Grill has always made a point not to exclude tots from having a worthwhile (and fun!) culinary experience. Not only are kids’ meals $1.99 on Sundays after 4 p.m., but this restaurant also features seven types of grilled cheese sandwiches — every kid’s favorite dish — as specials every Wednesday.

Spoonwood’s wide open floor plan (and in good weather, its fenced-in patio area) will keep kids from feeling cooped up while their parents enjoy a round of good beers and good food. The “Junior Brewer’s” menu features fun fare for the little ones, including mini-corn dogs and chicken fritters.
