This weekend, Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy kicks off summer by bringing the magic of the silver screen to our beloved urban green spaces.

Free and family-friendly, Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park screenings start at dusk at nine convenient locations.

Those bemoaning the recent closing of Robinson’s Twin Hi-Way Drive-In — one of the region’s last remaining drive-in theaters — will love watching movies in the open air on tranquil summer nights.

The lineup also includes the Spark! Series, with films showcasing stories from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Don’t miss opening weekend featuring “Deep” in Schenley Plaza June 3. Directed by Julio Soto Gurpide, the computer-animated film takes place in the post-apocalyptic future, when Earth is subjected to a man-made ecological catastrophe and a mythical octopus must save inhabitants and create a safe place to live.
