Travel the world — and experience the power of words — with City of Asylum.

Kicking off this Saturday, the new “Let’s Travel the World!” series is your ticket to exploring a wide variety of voices and cultures from around the world — and to shaking that cabin fever.

Free and open to all, the interactive, cross-cultural storytelling events are geared toward children ages 4 to 10.

First up is the internationally acclaimed, award-winning storyteller, spoken word recording artist, and author Donna Washington. Dubbed a “walking Disney movie,” Donna Washington will share heartfelt and engrossing tales from the American South.

Beloved for her highly animated and enthralling performances, Donna presents a blend of literary tales and folklore from a variety of cultures along with her own personal narratives and unique stories. Don’t miss ”the woman of 100 faces and 1,000 stories!”

Continue your globetrotting — and mark your calendar now — for these upcoming events in the “Let’s Travel the World!” series: “Stories from Appalachia” with Lyn Ford (March 31); “Stories from Japan” with Motoko (April 7); “Stories from the Lakota & Apache Nations” with Dovie Thomason (May 19); and “Stories from Kenya & Zimbabwe” with Eshu Bumpus (July 28).
