Blending two of summer’s most beloved pastimes—delicious homemade ice cream and outdoor live music—DreamOn returns for its second annual installment over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Turning Market Square into a festive and diverse celebration of homegrown talent and community, Pittsburgh’s first-of-its-kind ice cream music festival is free and open to the public of all ages.

On tap for this year’s unique event are 15 concerts, 30 flavors of Dream Cream Ice Cream, 12 vendors, three DJs and more—all animating the heart of downtown.

The event kicks off on Friday, July 3 with performances by Beauty Slap, DJ Nate Da Phat Barber, Anqwenique, Noel Quintana’s Latin Crew, Karl Franklin and Brydge. On deck for Saturday, July 4 are CMU Bhangra, The Chop Shop, Jasmine Tatee Tate, DJ Selecta, Dan Bubien and My Thai Dance Troupe. Wrapping up the festivities on Sunday, July 5 will be DJ Teagarden, 412tuned, Anqwenique and DJ Nate da Barber. Also featured on Sunday will be a lineup up civic speakers and a not-to-miss chance to participate in the city’s largest electric slide dance.

Presented by Omicelo—an investment and consulting firm that provides end-to-end execution for early stage companies—along with nonprofit Dream Cream Ice Cream, the event celebrates social enterprise, community, creativity and diversity.

Hosting the lively weekend will be model and actress Tunisha Hubbard, comedian J. Russ and Omicelo CEO and founder Joshua Pollard. This year, all of the festivities in Market Square will be documented by Emmy-award winning filmmaker Emmai Alaquiva.

A festival with a purpose, DreamOn also plays an important role in the community through its yearlong youth training programs. This year, 30 high school and GED student volunteers from the City of Pittsburgh and Mon Valley have become part owners of the DreamOn Festival (5% of its ownership stake) and are provided with innovative opportunities to develop a range of vital professional and personal skills, including business training and coaching, dividends (sponsorship, strategic partnerships, etc.) and more—all provided by Omicelo.
